Auchmountain Boys Bonnie Well
|
Album: Branches of the Greenock Tree
|
Author unknown Tune: Rose of Tralee
|
As I strolled out one day to the well on Auchmountain,
And wended my way through Dunlops Bonnie glen,
Over a small rustic bridge stood a neat little fountain,
Constructed by some unemployed working man.
Chorus:
And it Is lovely to view, with its flowers in the summer,
To describe all its beauties, my tongue could not tell,
Yet I'm sure every artisan, deems it a duty,
In preserving the Auchmountain boys bonnie well.
I have roamed in my time, through some lands that are foreign,
Yet know of no spot in my mind to excel,
That old rural glade in the town I was born in
That's known as the Auchmountain boys bonnie well
Chorus
To all those who have not been to see the Auchmountain,
I'd advise them to go there without more delay
And view all the scenery, around yon neat fountain,
And then with due pride, they will join me and say.
Chorus
